Balotelli's journey to Florence: smoking on the train, insulting the referee, disqualification © EuroFootball.com

Scandalous "Milan" striker Mario Balotelli has been suspended for three Italy "Serie A" championship matches for insulting a referee.

The 22-year-old footballer received his fourth yellow card of the season in a match against "Fiorentina", which meant he had to automatically miss one game. However, the sanctions were increased as the Italian also failed to respect one of the assistant referees.

Balotelli, who scored ten goals in 11 matches for the national team and club in 2013, will miss games against "Napoli", Turin "Juventus" and "Catania".

Interestingly, on the way to these matches, Balotelli caused another scandal as he was caught smoking on the train.
