"Throughout his life, Mexican janitor Abel Rodriguez, who lives in Los Angeles and supports the Madrid "Real" club, experienced something in March that many football fans would give anything for. The football lover went to a Champions League match with the "Manchester United" team with the "Real" team, and for all this, "Real" coach Jose Mourinho paid.
In the summer, A. Rodriguez had planned his vacation in such a way that he could work at the "Real" club's training camp. This decision of his, the Mexican probably will not forget for a long time - at the camp he was noticed by "Los Blancos" coach, the Portuguese J. Mourinho, who is famous for his arrogance. However, this time the Portuguese showed only his good qualities. The coach listened to the fan's story and decided to help him fulfill his dream.
On March 2nd, J. Mourinho invited A. Rodriguez to Madrid to watch the "El Clasico" match with the "Barcelona" club, despite not having a ticket. J. Mourinho made sure that the Mexican was escorted through the security of the Madrid stadium and saw the deadly clash of rivals with his own eyes.
But A. Rodriguez's adventures did not end there. The devoted "Real" fan traveled with his beloved club to Manchester, when "Real" played a UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against the English club at "Old Trafford" stadium. All travel expenses were covered by J. Mourinho.
In England, A. Rodriguez had the opportunity to meet with "Manchester United" coach Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary Diego Maradona, and several other "Red Devils" players. In addition, the Mexican brought back excellent souvenirs - he received a jersey signed by his compatriot Javier Hernandez Chicharito.
In a story published in "Sports Illustrated," it is written that A. Rodriguez could have paid for the trip himself, but J. Mourinho told him: "When you are in Europe with me - you don't need to pay for anything."
A. Rodriguez shared his story with the press as a thank you to the coach from Portugal, as he had no contacts with J. Mourinho and could not thank him in any other way."
