Rooney dilemma: stay at "Man Utd" or move to PSG? © EuroFootball.com

In the English media, discussions about where one of the most prominent "Man Utd" stars Wayne Rooney will play next season continue without a break.

As it has already been announced, former "Paris St.Germain" advisor Michel Moulin declared that the 27-year-old footballer will move to the French team for 30 million euros this summer and form a tandem with Zlatan Ibrahimović.

"Reliable sources report that Rooney has agreed with PSG," Moulin said.

Nevertheless, "The Independent" reported on Tuesday that the forward will stay in Manchester and sign a new contract with the club currently leading the English championship, even though his current contract expires only in 2015.

This season, Rooney, whose salary is at least 235 thousand euros per week and would likely be slightly reduced with a new agreement, scored 12 goals and made nine assists in 19 matches in the Premier League. However, critics note that this season has not been particularly successful for him - the coach Sir Alex Ferguson has left him on the bench more than once, so the prospect of remaining a constant starter in the future seems unclear.

Interestingly, Ferguson has recently been experimenting more and more with Rooney in a defensive position, but the player did not agree enthusiastically, as he feels more comfortable in the attack. In addition, "Man Utd" does not hide its intentions to strengthen the midfield this summer, so Rooney is only a temporary solution to the problems.

Therefore, according to "The Guardian," the Englishman does not intend to rush and will wait for a specific step from the "Man Utd" leaders, which should reveal the role assigned to Rooney. The player himself would like to stay in Manchester, but does not rule out the possibility of testing his abilities abroad if circumstances turn unfavorable, where a PSG team owned by Qatari billionaires is eagerly awaiting him.
