Today, the first semi-final matches of the LFF Cup were played.

In Panevėžys, at the Aukštaitija stadium, the hosts "Ekranas" and "Šiauliai" met. Showing excellent sports form, Tomo Kančelskio's pupils defeated "Ekranas" by a minimal margin.

In the first half, both teams created quite a few dangerous moments. The guests from Šiauliai were the first to take advantage when George Alaverdashvili scored a goal.

After the first goal, the people of Šiauliai did not intend to stop and doubled their lead in the 38th minute. However, at the end of the half, Fernando De Abreu reduced the deficit and revived all of "Ekranas" hopes of fighting for victory.

In the second half, the Lithuanian champions took the initiative, but the goalkeeper Šarūnas Jurevičius saved the "Šiauliai" team from conceding goals.

The most dangerous opportunities from "Ekranas" came from corners. Valdas Urbano's pupils had several chances to equalize but due to the referee's whistle being blown, a minimal victory for the team from Šiauliai was announced.

The second leg between these clubs will take place on May 1st.
