On Monday night, in the final match of the XXXVI round of the English Premier League, Sunderland and Stoke teams parted ways with a 1-1 draw in front of their own fans.
For Paolo Di Canio's disciples, the match could have ended much more sadly, as in the very beginning of the first half Jonathan Walters scored to put the visitors ahead, and in the 34th minute Craig Gardner was sent off the field for a rough foul.
Nevertheless, after the break John O'Shea restored the balance of the match and secured important points for Sunderland's players in the fight for survival.
Meanwhile, the point practically guaranteed Stoke a place in the Premier League next year.
