Žalgiris' coach wants to teach the team to score even more goals © EuroFootball.com

Under the leadership of Marekas Zubas, Žalgiris has scored more than 50 goals in the A league. This milestone was reached in just 20 matches.

Since last August, M. Zubas' green and white team have achieved 17 victories, played 2 draws, and suffered only 1 loss.

The team has scored 51 goals (2.55 per game) and conceded 13 (0.65 per game).

M. Zubas values the team's excellent statistical results and emphasizes the quality of play displayed.

"All these numbers look good, but we can only talk about them at the end of the season. Then we will know our position and assess the work done. For now, it is too early to focus on statistics," says the coach.

"Since arriving at Žalgiris, the most important thing was to implement my playing philosophy and convince the players to believe in it. Only in such a case, when we trust each other and work together, can we achieve excellent results.

This process is very complex. Now, half a year after my first matches in the Lithuanian championship, I can say that we have made significant progress. However, there are no limits to perfection, and we strive to get to know each other better and demonstrate unified football," the strategist said.

"Most coaches say that offense wins games, and defense wins championships. I never separate these two aspects. I want the team to defend well and attack effectively.

At this stage of the season, we are focusing more on the attack. 60% of our training time is spent on creating attacks, and the remaining time on defense. Of course, this proportion will change later, but at the moment we want to improve our offense," said Marekas Zubas, the coach of the Žalgiris team.
