Antonio Conte, who has become the champion of Italy for the second year in a row, is not planning to stop.
The Turin "Juventus" victories builder has set a goal for the next season to pose a serious challenge in the UEFA Champions League tournament.
In an open interview with the influential Italian newspaper "Gazzetta dello Sport", A. Conte touched on many topics relevant to him and the "Juventus" club.
In the conversation with journalists, the strategist started from securing the "Scudetto" mathematically last Sunday.
"My wife asked me to enjoy the won "Scudetto" for a few days, but I just can't. I am the type of person who avoids showing his feelings, but that doesn't mean I don't have any," former "Juventus" captain reassured.
"Our fight for both "Scudetto" titles was amazing and at the same time very challenging. The first one we won somewhat unexpectedly, as we were not considered favorites or contenders. We did it by defeating the powerful "Milan" team in a hard-fought battle and not experiencing any losses. It was simply brilliant."
"Defending the champions' titles was also not an easy task. We had to sacrifice a lot for the Champions League and at the same time live up to the hopes placed in us."
Having created a team in the Italian championship that has no equals, A. Conte is not going to stop and wants to conquer Europe.
"I laugh when I hear people saying that we would only need one or two high-class players to win the Champions League. Such statements are superficial and arrogant," said the "Juventus" coach.
"The reality is different. There is a considerable distance between us and the top of Europe. This is also evidenced by the UEFA rankings. We are not only talking about the club's financial situation. Of course, money helps, but it is not enough."
"In today's football, the role model for me has become the Munich "Bayern" club. The project that started a year ago with Van Gaal strengthened the financial position and increased the team's competitiveness."
"The key to success can be considered the organization of the game. The club must work according to a precisely prepared plan, which includes both smart investments and work with young players. This is the only way to progress."
A. Conte will soon sit down at the negotiating table with the "Juventus" management to discuss the club's further strategy and goals in the upcoming summer transfer market. It remains unclear whether the views of the Turin club and the coach will coincide.
"Will I stay? The players and the club deserve respect. We will discuss everything with the president and the general manager Giuseppe Marotta," reassured A. Conte.
