Mourinho: I received a phone call from Ferguson, our conversation was very emotional © EuroFootball.com

Jose Mourinho did not hide the fact that the news of Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement disappointed him. The 71-year-old legendary English coach personally called the Portuguese and told him about his decision.

It recently became clear that David Moyes will replace A. Ferguson at Manchester United as he ends his coaching career. The current Real Madrid coach, J. Mourinho, supported this decision of the club.

"I was surprised and sad when Alex Ferguson called me to inform me of the news. It was an honor to know about his decision personally. On the other hand, I was also happy to feel his emotions and pride in such an amazing career," J. Mourinho told Sky Sports.

"I think it will be difficult for me. It will be difficult for all coaches, because when you arrive at Old Trafford to play against Manchester United, you will no longer have this mystical figure waiting for you."

"I think David is a good coach and an excellent choice. I like him as a person and I like his coaching character. I believe that Man Utd fans will support him because he has the qualities to successfully do his job at Man Utd club. I wish Sir Alex a happy life, and David a successful career at Manchester United," J. Mourinho continued.

It is believed that J. Mourinho's candidacy to become the Manchester United coach was also considered, but the Portuguese once again hinted that he will most likely become the coach of Chelsea.

"Alex and I are good friends, and my good friends know what I want to coach when I finish my work with Real Madrid," Mourinho mysteriously concluded.
