Manchester United has lost another person who dedicated many years to the club - Paul Scholes has announced that he will end his football career after this season.

The 38-year-old veteran first retired from football two years ago, but changed his mind in January and was an important player for the team until the end of last season.

The long-time Manchester United player broke into the first team 20 years ago along with other talented players and since then has played 716 matches and scored 155 goals.

"Paul is an irreplaceable player. He was completely dedicated to this club and it was a real privilege to work with him," said head coach Sir Alex Ferguson. "He deserves his 11th Premier League medal."

"Yes, finally hanging up my boots for good," said Scholes himself. "I always wanted to play football and to do it for Manchester United and be coached by the greatest manager of all time is a great honor. The team is balanced and will flourish under David Moyes' leadership."
