In England, footballers fear the reaction of fans © EuroFootball.com

Eight of the top English football league players gathered in a dressing room with all the teams' friends to take a step forward and reveal that they are gay.

However, the words remained in the dressing rooms - homosexual footballers do not feel so brave to publicly speak about their sexual orientation, and fear the reaction of thousands of fans.

Seven out of eight players have told Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) chairman Clarke Carlisle that they do not want to publicly disclose their sexual orientation for fear of fans and media reaction.

The British were encouraged to speak about homosexuals in their most popular sport by an article in "Sports Illustrated" in which NBA player Jason Collins revealed that he is gay.
