London's Arsenal budget this summer will be supplemented by half a million euros, which the English team will pay to the Spanish champions Barcelona.
In the summer of 2011, the Catalan club acquired midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal for 29 million euros, and a year later Cameroonian Alex Song moved to Barcelona for 19 million euros. Both of these players' sale agreements include additional payments to Arsenal if the players win trophies while at Barcelona.
This season, under Tito Vilanova's leadership, Barcelona convincingly triumphed in the Spanish La Liga, so Arsenal will receive a total bonus of 3.5 million euros for C. Fabregas and A. Song.
The Catalan club regularly announces the amounts paid for acquired players. Sometimes, certain non-confidential contract conditions are also disclosed.
For example, in August 2011, Barcelona provided full financial information about the acquisition of C. Fabregas, officially denying rumors that 40 million euros were paid for the player. At that time, it was also announced that Arsenal would receive an additional 5 million euros if the Catalan club became Spanish champions twice (2 million euros each) and won the UEFA Champions League once (1 million euros).
