On Wednesday evening in Amsterdam, the UEFA Europa League final match was played.
The clubs Lisbon's "Benfica" and London's "Chelsea" met at the "Amsterdam ArenA," which accommodates 53 thousand spectators.
At the beginning of the match, the Portuguese team took the initiative and launched one attack after another, later the game became more balanced.
The first goal of the match was scored in the 60th minute, when the striker Fernando Torres from the English capital team escaped alone against the goalkeeper and, dribbling past him, sent the ball into the net.
The English had long enjoyed their lead, as defender Cesar Azpilicueta played with his hand in his penalty area, so the referee did not hesitate to award a penalty kick to the "aristocrats" goal. It was successfully converted by "Benfica" striker Oscar Cardozo.
As the match was approaching its end, it seemed that the teams would determine the winner in extra time, but it was not necessary, as in the last corner kick of the match, Branislav Ivanovic headed the ball into Artur's goal.
