Jose Mourinho admits that this season with Madrid's "Real" team has been the worst in his entire career.
On Friday, in the final of the Spanish King's Cup, "Real" lost 1-2 to the principled derby to Madrid's "Atletico" and remained without trophies, having already lost the Spanish champion title and failed to advance beyond the Champions League semi-finals.
"I have a contract that still has three years left. I have to admit that this season is the worst in my career, but the first two years were good," Mourinho justified himself, who was sent to the stands during the final match due to disputes with referees.
And he continued: "I don't think 'Atletico' deserved to win. We had two great chances to score, hit the crossbar three times... So the defeat is not entirely fair. The opponents' goalkeeper played fantastically, but he was also very lucky."
During his three years at "Real," Mourinho won the Spanish league, the King's Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup once each. Modest results and disagreements within the team hardly leave any doubts that after this season the Portuguese will leave Madrid. The media is buzzing with reports that the specialist will return to London's "Chelsea."
