In the next season, Napoli will be led by a new coach. Current coach Walter Mazzarri informed the club management that he decided to step down from his position.

"I made the decision not impulsively, it matured over a certain period of time. I wanted to thank the team president, the director, who until the very last minute tried to make me change my mind," said the Italian.

"I wanted to step down a year ago. F.Capello has said that in our country it is difficult to stay in charge of one club for more than 4-5 seasons. I am convinced that without making any changes, another season would not give the players enough motivation. I will look for new challenges."

The 51-year-old football specialist has been in charge of Napoli since the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. This season, Napoli finished in second place in the Serie A championship, only behind Juventus from Turin.
