Rafael Benitez is the main contender to take over the helm of Paris St. Germain team, announces the French press.

PSG club leaders have received a request from the current team coach Carlo Ancelotti to terminate the contract, which still has a year left, as the Italian has received an offer to become Jose Mourinho's successor at Real Madrid.

Although PSG leaders have not yet made a final decision on Ancelotti's future, on Tuesday they already contacted Benitez's representatives and discussed the possibility of working with the team. However, other possible contenders are also mentioned, including former Man City coach Roberto Mancini and Napoli's Walter Mazzarri, but the experience and victories in European cup competitions of the Spanish manager impress the French the most.

Last season, Benitez led Chelsea in London, but he only held this position until the end of the season. Nevertheless, he managed to secure third place in the English championship and win the UEFA Europa League tournament.

Throughout his career, the specialist with Liverpool has also triumphed in the UEFA Champions League and once reached the final of this tournament.
