The Spanish champion "Barcelona" officially announced that they have successfully completed negotiations with defender Adriano Correia for a new contract. The Catalan club is expected to soon sign a four-year contract with the 28-year-old Brazilian, valid until June 30, 2017. Adriano's previous contract expires next summer, but it includes the option to extend the cooperation for another season. "Barcelona" coach Tito Vilanova and club officials have repeatedly stated that they are satisfied with the player's quality of play, so the offer extended to the Brazilian is not for just one, but a new four-year contract. It includes a €90 million release clause. Any team wishing to acquire the player without direct negotiations with the Catalan club would have to pay this amount. However, earlier this spring, some unofficial sources in the media claimed that Adriano could be sold, but "Barcelona" denied this information. Experienced A. Correia, who can play in defense and midfield, has been representing the Catalan club since the summer of 2010, when he was acquired from the "Sevilla" team for €9.5 million. Adriano has played a total of 105 official matches and scored 10 goals for "Barcelona".
