The most challenging season of his career, Marius Stankevičius finished by lifting the Italian Cup. Although he was plagued by injuries this year, the footballer from Rome's "Lazio" will arrive at the Lithuanian national team camp full of determination to prove that he has finally recovered from his injuries.

"The season was definitely successful for the team. The beginning was very good, the second half - perhaps worse, but many important nuances determined a lot.

The team played almost 60 matches - we participated not only in the "Serie A" championship, reached the final of the cup, but also advanced far in the Europa League tournament," said the defender.

"Personally, it was a difficult season for me. After an injury, I started preparing together with others, when the championship had already started. The coach had already formed his team, so it was really difficult to break into the lineup.

When I finally recovered and was in decent shape, I caught an infection. It knocked me off course again for a long time. It seemed like everything was going well, but I experienced another setback. Of course, it also affected me psychologically.

But it's good that everything ended so well and we won the cup.

The year was tough, but it was definitely positive. The most important thing is to finish well, because then you can start the next season well.

I hope I'll be here. You just have to try to avoid injuries, then I can play more.

The most important thing is health, everything else will come naturally," reassured M. Stankevičius.
