One of the most promising young players of Barcelona's youth academy in the upcoming season could join the ranks of Champions League finalists.
According to the newspapers "Sport" and "El Mundo Deportivo," the Catalan club is considering the possibility of loaning out their reserve team forward Gerard Deulofeu to Borussia Dortmund.
In mid-May, Barcelona officially confirmed reaching an agreement with the forward to extend his contract until the summer of 2017, so now further career prospects of G. Deulofeu are being considered - either moving the player to the main squad or loaning him out to a capable club. It is said that the Spanish champions would like to loan out the player to a team competing in the Champions League.
Unofficially, G. Deulofeu himself would not object to moving to Real Sociedad in San Sebastián for a season, but due to the right to play in the Champions League next season, the Basque team, struggling in the 37th round of the Spanish championship, complicated their situation. The proteges of Philippe Montanier finished the match with Real Madrid in a 3-3 draw and fell behind Valencia on points. Currently, the San Sebastián team is in fifth position, so everything should be clarified in the last round of La Liga.
Being a finalist in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund would also offer an attractive career opportunity for the young Catalan talent, and the playing style promoted by Jurgen Klopp's team would suit the talented forward.
According to "El Mundo Deportivo," the Spanish champions are also considering the possibility of loaning out G. Deulofeu to Ajax in Amsterdam, but it is said that the level of the Dutch national championships is somewhat low for one of the most promising graduates of the Barcelona youth academy.
