At the last moment, invitations to join the Lithuanian national team were received by VMFD "Žalgiris" players Mantas Kuklys and Vaidotas Šilėnas.
The national team coach Csaba Laszlo decided to invite the Žalgiris players to the national team after the Sunday matches of the "SMScredit.lt A Lyga" XVI round, in which "Žalgiris" crushed Pakruojis "Kruoja" with a score of 4:0.
"I didn't expect to receive the invitation. I had other plans, but I will cancel them and join the national team, where everyone hopes to play," said V. Šilėnas, who learned the news right after the match with "Kruoja".
On the other hand, the invitation to join the national team was not unexpected for Mantas Kuklys. The defender had already been included in the reserve list of advanced candidates.
In preparation for the 2014 World Cup qualifying matches against Greece, Žalgiris players Artūras Žulpa and Armantas Vitkauskas will also participate. In total, there will be eight players from the "SMScredit.lt A Lyga" competing in the national team.
The Lithuanians will gather for their first training session on Monday. The match against the Greeks at the Vilnius LFF Stadium will take place on Friday (June 7th).
