London's "Arsenal" club strategist Arsene Wenger admitted that he made a mistake when he decided that his team did not need to buy Gareth Bale.
G. Bale joined the "Tottenham" team from the "Southampton" club in 2007. His former teammate Theo Walcott had already become an "Arsenal" player a little earlier.
A. Wenger wanted to buy both of these players, but at that time G. Bale played as a left-back, and the "Arsenal" team already had two players in that position.
"We didn't buy Bale because we had Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy, so we didn't want another left-back. I have to admit that it was a mistake because Gareth can play closer to the opponents' goal," said the Frenchman.
This season, the 23-year-old player scored 21 goals and made 9 assists in the Premier League.
