Liverpool's Everton team officially confirmed on Wednesday that former Wigan club manager Roberto Martinez will take over the team.
The Spaniard has long been mentioned as the most likely candidate to coach the "Toffees" team. Among the candidates were mentioned Porto's coach Vitor Pereira, Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay, and Swansea coach Michael Laudrup.
R. Martinez coached Wigan from 2009. This season the team failed to remain in the English Premier League, but the Spaniard and his players won the FA Cup.
Before taking over Wigan, the coach trained Swansea City for two seasons. The Spaniard will replace David Moyes, who coached the team for 11 years before becoming Manchester United's manager.
