Greek coach F. Santosas: It's difficult to win against Lithuania © EuroFootball.com

The head coach of the Greek national team, Fernando Santos, respectfully commented on the upcoming match with the Lithuanian team, but stated that he was only thinking about winning.

"These are important matches for us, as our ambitions are to play in the World Cup next year. In order to achieve this goal, we must win all the remaining matches, starting with tomorrow's," said the Portuguese coach at a press conference on the eve of the match.

When asked to name the most dangerous Lithuanian players, F. Santos said he does not do that: "We never focus on individual players. Not because they are poor in the Lithuanian team, but because we need to look at the opponents as a team.

According to F. Santos, to win, one must find weaknesses in the opponents' defense and offense. "Lithuania is a well-organized team, difficult to beat. This was proven by the two draws you achieved in matches against Slovakia," said the Portuguese coach.

The Greek national team consists of 21 players, with 15 of them representing foreign clubs. Most of them - 5 - play in Italian clubs.

According to Greek media, the team's goal will be guarded by Orestis Karnezis, with Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Kostas Manolas in the center of defense, Vassilis Torosidis and Jose Holebas on the flanks.

In the midfield, the Greeks will have veterans and European champions Kostas Katsouranis, Giorgos Karagounis, and the versatile Giannis Maniatis. On the flanks, Giorgos Samaras and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos are expected to play, with Theofanis Gekas up front.

The Lithuania and Greece national teams will meet on Friday at the LFF Stadium. The match is scheduled to start at 9:45 PM.
