Former "Manchester United" and "Everton" club defender Phil Neville confirmed rumors that he is retiring from professional football.
The 36-year-old footballer announced in April that he would be leaving the "Everton" team after spending 8 years there, but he has not yet spoken about retirement.
During his illustrious 19-year football career, P. Neville played in 505 Premier League matches, won the Champions League with "Manchester United," and triumphed in the English championship six times. He also represented England 59 times as a defender.
"When I announced that I was leaving "Everton," everywhere I went, people would tell me 'hey, you were amazing.' I didn't like that, I didn't want to seem like I was seeking attention," said P. Neville.
"In my heart, I knew I wouldn't play anymore. I just wanted to quietly bow out. I will miss July 4th the most, when we would return to training with the "Everton" team. I loved that day. I lived for it, I waited to meet my teammates again," the Englishman said.
