The new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that he is satisfied with club captain John Terry and there will be no changes. However, the Portuguese noted that this will not guarantee him a permanent place in the starting lineup.
32-year-old defender John Terry was the team captain when Jose Mourinho led the club to two English championships in previous years.
"John is the team captain. I am very happy about that and I know our fans share the same opinion. However, he will only wear the armband when he plays. I cannot promise in any way that he will always be in the starting lineup," explained Jose Mourinho upon his return to the club.
There are suspicions in the press that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney may join the Blues. Mourinho refused to comment on whether negotiations between clubs are taking place: "If I learned something in my career, it is to never talk about players from other clubs. No chance. He is a mature and experienced player. It is his decision to move to a club where he will be happier. He is similar to me. Having an extra million in the pocket is not important to us. It doesn't matter anymore. The most important thing is where you feel happy," the coach insisted.
Jose Mourinho admitted that he has not yet spoken to Fernando Torres, whose future in the club is unclear. At the moment, the Spaniard is with the national team preparing for the Confederations Cup tournament.
