UEFA Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund's managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke promised that the German vice-champions will be able to spend about 40% more on player wages next season.
"Next season, the wage budget will reach 67-68 million euros. This is significantly more than we could afford two years ago. Of course, compared to the most powerful European football clubs, it doesn't seem like a lot, but our increase must remain stable. It is like a bridge between income and expenses," said H.J. Watzke.
In the recently concluded 2012-13 season, Borussia's wage budget was 48.5 million euros - about 13.5 million euros less than two years ago, according to goal.com.
The possibility of increasing the wage budget was mainly contributed by Borussia's journey in the Champions League tournament, where the German team reached the final.
The Dortmund club is known for its strict rules on player salaries.
