Portugal's superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has started negotiations for a new contract with the Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Recently, Ronaldo himself stated that all rumors about him already signing a new contract with the team are wrong, but later he revealed his intentions to stay with Real.
The current Portuguese contract with the royal club is valid until 2015. According to the old contract, the footballer receives 10 million euros per year after tax.
Real Madrid offers the forward a contract worth 155 million euros and a duration of five years, but according to Spanish laws, Ronaldo would pay up to 52% of his salary in taxes.
For comparison, Barcelona star Lionel Messi earns about 13 million euros per year, Falcao in Monaco gets 14 million, and Samuel Eto'o at Anzhi in Russia earns 20 million euros per year.
Cristiano Ronaldo cost Real Madrid 94 million euros when he moved from Manchester United to Spain in 2009. Since then, in 199 matches, the Portuguese player has scored 201 goals.
