The "Monaco" club, returning to the strongest French football league next season, will start with a points deduction. The team, spending money this summer, has been fined two points for inappropriate fan behavior.
The "Monaco" club has been punished not only with a points deduction, but will also have to play one game at home next season without any fans.
This punishment was imposed on the team for inappropriate fan behavior during a match in May against the "Le Mans" team, in which the "Monaco" club won 2-1.
In that match, the "Monaco" club secured the "Ligue 2" crown, but after the match, the team's fans invaded the field, and one of them hit the match referee.
In a statement released by the leadership of the French Football League (LFP), it is mentioned that the behavior of "Monaco" fans is unjustifiable: "the use of pyrotechnics, invasion of the field, and violence against the referee".
Claudio Ranieri's coached "Monaco" club will start the 2013-14 season away from home against the "Bordeaux" team on August 10th.
