Italy's team will not be able to rely on one of their leaders, Andrea Pirlo, in the Confederations Cup match for the 3rd place.
The European vice-champions will face the Copa America champions, the Uruguayan football players, on Sunday evening to determine the winner of the third place.
The team led by Cesare Prandelli will have to play without the Juventus duo A.Pirlo and his namesake A.Barzagli.
The team doctor, Enrico Castellacci, stated that in the match against Spain the player had muscle problems, but managed to stay on the field for two hours and take part in the penalty shootout.
However, the coaching staff and medical team decided not to risk the player's health. Meanwhile, A.Barzagli is suffering from recurring Achilles tendon problems.
The team will also be without the AC Milan's offensive leader, Mario Balotelli, who returned to Italy due to injury.
The match between Italy and Uruguay will be played at 19:00 Lithuanian time on Sunday.
