D. Maradona: Brazilians would never beat the Spaniards on a neutral field © EuroFootball.com

Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona did not miss the opportunity to taunt the biggest rivals of his country in the football world.

The 52-year-old former footballer commented on the end of the Confederations Cup final, saying that the Spaniards suffered a defeat only because of the huge army of Brazilian fans.

"Spain was very unlucky that this tournament took place in Brazil. The hosts wouldn't have had any chance of winning against the Spaniards if the match had taken place in a neutral stadium," said D. Maradona.

As usual, the Argentine did not forget to praise his compatriot Lionel Messi, stating that the "Barcelona" club leader is still the best footballer in the world, surpassing both Cristiano Ronaldo and the leader of the Brazilian national team and the best player of the Confederations tournament, Neymar.

"Next year's World Cup will belong to the South American national teams, I hope that the Argentine national team will return from Brazil as the winner," predicted D. Maradona.
