The Spanish sports newspaper "Marca" reports that the country's champions have reached an agreement with forward Santiago Ezquerro to transfer to the Catalan superclub.
The 28-year-old S. Ezquerro's contract with Athletic will expire this summer and "Marca" claims that Barcelona has reached a preliminary agreement with the forward, which should be officially signed by the end of June.
"Marca" states that Barcelona should officially announce the acquisition of this player next week.
If the information is confirmed, S. Ezquerro will become the second player to join Barcelona this summer under the Bosman rule. Earlier, Barcelona announced it had reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven star Mark van Bommel.
This season, S. Ezquerro has scored 11 goals for Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish championship.
Currently, Barcelona has three forwards: Samuel Eto'o, Maxi Lopez, and Henrik Larsson. In the summer, Argentine Javier Saviola, who played for Monaco this year under a loan agreement, is expected to return to the Catalan superclub.
