Amsterdam's "Ajax" sports director Marc Overmars was disappointed with the lost battle to London's "Chelsea" team for promising midfielder Marco van Ginkel.
According to the representative of the Dutch champions, the young footballer would have had more opportunities to shine in his homeland.
"Van Ginkel is a very promising talent and we wanted to see him in our team. I don't know if it was too early for him to spread his wings to Chelsea. However, in our club, he would have played many matches and tested his strength in the UEFA Champions League," Overmars said.
The 20-year-old M. van Ginkel, who belonged to the "Vitesse" team, cost the London team 9.3 million euros.
Last season in the national championship, he played 41 matches and scored 12 goals.
