n Monday afternoon, the Munich "Bayern" club confirmed that they have sold forward Mario Gomez to the Italian team "Fiorentina".

Talks about Gomez leaving the team had been circulating for some time. Last season, after the club signed Mario Mandžukić, the player lost his place in the starting lineup and wanted to leave to play abroad.

Gomez played for the "Bayern" club since 2009, when the Bavarians paid 30 million euros to the Stuttgart team for him.

In the ranks of the German champions, Gomez played for four years, during which he played 174 matches and scored 113 goals.

"Gomez wanted to leave Bayern and go to Florence. We fulfilled his wishes. With his goals, he contributed to two Bundesliga and two DfB-Pokal titles," said club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"The most important episode, of course, was the victory in the Champions League and three titles last season. I would like to thank him for his efforts here and wish him success at Fiorentina," said the German.

The transfer fee is not yet known, but it is said that Gomez will sign a four-year contract with Fiorentina.
