After an incredible victory in the UEFA Champions League, the team is awaited by thousands of fans in their hometown. The heroes who claimed the trophy for the fifth time are planning to be welcomed by crowds of fans as the footballers ride through the city in an open bus.

In the cities - the excitement of the fans

The city's police chief said he had never seen so many fans celebrating in the streets after one of the most beautiful victories in the entire club's history, and perhaps even in the tournament's history.

Even 24 planes with English fans are returning home from Turkey. Although flights were suspended for a while, fans are slowly returning to Liverpool's John Lennon Airport. A two-hour parade is planned to start on Thursday at 18:30 local time.

The team was greeted by top politicians

After the match, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair, was congratulated by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who holds the same position in Turkey. In turn, T. Blair sent a letter to the team, in which he wrote:

"Unbelievable. Extraordinary. Wonderful. The whole country is proud of you."

Huge sums are paid out in betting companies

One "Liverpool" fan from Preston had a reason to celebrate twice. Last December, at the "William Hill" betting company, he bet 500 pounds on the club winning the Champions League. The odds were 80 to 1, so the fan's pocket will be filled with 40 thousand pounds.

The most loyal English fans did not hesitate to spend money betting on the victory during the halftime of the game, when "Liverpool" was even behind 0-3. About 100 people bet on the victory and now they will win massive sums, as the odds were as high as 100 to 1.
