Dortmund's "Borussia" coach Jurgen Klopp revealed that his team actively inquired about safe options like Isco and Thiago Alcantara, but ended up with nothing.
UEFA Champions League finalists had to settle for Donetsk's "Shakhtar" player Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
"We were thinking about Isco, as well as Thiago, but it was clear that we had no chance of winning these races," the coach said.
"We are thinking about many attackers, but I don't know who the real candidates are. Jackson Martinez is talented and has a lot of good qualities - that's why he is an interesting option," the coach said, already considering how to replace the potentially departing Robert Lewandowski.
