On Tuesday evening, the fate of Panevėžys "Ekranas" football players in the UEFA Champions League tournament was revealed.

Lithuanian representatives in the elite European tournament qualifier in Iceland met the local team "FH Hafnarfjördur."

The first game ended unsuccessfully - the Panevėžys team lost at home with a score of 0 - 1.

At the start of the match, the Lithuanian guests looked better and equalized the overall series score in the 26th minute, when Arsenijus Buinickij scored a penalty kick from 11 meters.

The Lithuanians did not hold onto this result for long, and in the 38th minute after confusion in the penalty area, the score became 1 - 1 (2 - 1). The goal scorer was Bjorn Sverisson.

The situation for the "Ekranas" football players became more complicated in the second half of the match, when in the 52nd minute defender Oscar Reyes was sent off the field for a last man foul.

After this setback, the Panevėžys team could not recover and had to admit the superiority of their opponents.

In the final moments of the match, the Icelanders managed to score another goal - Atli Bjornsson scored during extra time.
