The Glasgow club coach Martin O'Neill stepped down from the team having won trophies - on Saturday in the Scottish Cup final his players narrowly defeated the opposing team.
Celtic had to recover from a tragic end to the championship when the title was lost in the last minutes, so it was an opportunity to bounce back and win at least one trophy. The Glasgow team reached the final by beating the "Lithuanian" Edinburgh "Hearts" in the semifinals.
Right from the start, "Celtic" took the lead - A. Thomson scored a goal in the 11th minute. The Glasgow team dominated the match, and as the game neared the end, C. Sutton missed an 11-meter penalty and "Dundee Utd" opponents almost punished for this mistake, but A. Archibald's shot hit the crossbar.
The "Celtic" players won the cup and gave a good gift to M. O'Neill, who was leaving due to his wife's illness, for whom this was the seventh prize won at the club. The new team's strategist will be former "Southampton" coach, Scottish Gordon Strachan.
