"Napoli" announced on their official website that they have completed negotiations with Madrid's "Real" club to acquire striker Gonzalo Higuain.
As reported, the Argentinian national team player will sign a four-year contract, and Napoli will pay a sum of 37 million euros to the Spanish vice-champions, with an additional 3 million euros depending on the player's performance.
It had been clear for some time that the striker had reached an agreement with the team led by Rafael Benitez, but "Real" was waiting for a response from London's "Arsenal" - from whom they had hoped for a larger offer, but the latter did not intend to offer the amount that "Napoli" paid.
Yesterday, the entire Madrid team arrived in Lyon, but G. Higuain was not included in the squad. A few hours later, photos appeared showing the striker already on his way to Napoli.
The 25-year-old Argentine arrived at the capital's team in Spain in 2007. The player, who cost 12 million euros, scored 122 goals and made 46 assists in 266 matches played.
G. Higuain will replace Edinson Cavani in the ranks of the Italian vice-champions, who recently moved to Paris Saint-Germain for 63 million euros.
Earlier, "Napoli" also added two more "Real" players - Jose Callejon and Raul Albiol.
"Azzurri" also announced that they have added longtime Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina to the team.
The former Villarreal player moved to Italy on a loan basis, so at the end of the season, P. Reina will return to the "Anfield" fortress, although it is certain that he will permanently part ways with the club coached by Brendan Rodgers.
At the beginning of the summer, it was rumored that the Spanish national team goalkeeper would return to "Barcelona", but Victor Valdes decided to stay in Catalonia for another year.
The 30-year-old player arrived at Liverpool in 2005. Wearing the "Reds" jersey, P. Reina played 394 matches.
It is worth mentioning that the president of "Napoli" confirmed before the official announcement that both mentioned players successfully passed the medical examination.
