The captain of the Rome team "Lazio" represented by Marius Stankevičius, Stefano Mauri, was suspended for six months by the Italian Football Federation due to his involvement in a match-fixing scandal.

S. Mauri was one of the eight players accused of influencing the results of Serie A matches between "Lazio" and "Genoa", as well as "Lecce" and "Lazio" in May 2011.

He was found guilty of manipulating the results of the "Lazio" and "Lecce" matches, but acquitted of involvement in the match with "Genoa".

The prosecutor Stefano Palazzi demanded a four-and-a-half year ban for the footballer, but S. Mauri was only found guilty of not reporting the fixed matches.

The footballer stated that he would appeal the suspension.

S. Palazzi also demanded that "Lazio" be deducted six points - three for each match. In addition, the federation fined the "Lazio" club €40,000. The "Lecce" club will have to pay €20,000. No fine was imposed on the "Genoa" club.
