In the English "Premier League", the record-low number of English players is decreasing - "The Guardian" investigation revealed that in the first round of national championships, even two-thirds of the players on the field were legionnaires.

This is the worst result in the history of the country. If in 1992 the English made up 73.1 percent on the first day, last weekend the indicator dropped to 34.1 percent, which is much worse than in Spain, Germany, Italy, or France.

It is noted that this summer out of 61 players acquired by "Premier League" clubs, only twelve were English, and none of them transferred to a team that reached the top eight in the previous season.

However, the Executive Director of the "Premier League" Richard Scudamore defended that it is impossible to influence these processes: "It's not our fault that only 60 million people live in the country, while there are 212 countries in the world. There are things that are beyond our control."

Indeed, it is planned to invest almost 400 million euros over four years in a special program aimed at promoting the development of local young football players. There are concerns that without taking these measures, the results of various age group national teams could suffer, which currently do not please the specialists.
