On Wednesday evening, the final qualifying stage matches of the UEFA Champions League were played in European stadiums.

Perhaps the most anticipated pair, "Fenerbahce" - "Arsenal," already provided plenty of answers after the first match.

In Istanbul, the hosts could not resist Arsene Wenger's disciples and suffered a defeat with a score of 0 - 3.

The scorers for the winners were Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey, and Olivier Giroud.

Two more away victories were also recorded tonight: Vienna's "Austria" defeated Zagreb's "Dinamo" 2 - 0, and "Basel" crushed Bulgarian "Ludogorets" 4 - 2.

A surprising result was recorded in Germany, where Gelsenkirchen's "Schalke" failed to defeat PAOK from Greece. The match ended in a 1 - 1 draw.

The same outcome was recorded in Romania, where Bucharest's "Steaua" played a draw with Warsaw's "Legia."

The second leg matches will be played in a week.
