Late on Wednesday evening in England, the first matches of the 2nd round of the Premier League were played.
At the fortress of Stamford Bridge, the local London Chelsea clashed weapons with Birmingham Aston Villa. The Blues secured a narrow victory with a score of 2-1.
In the first half, Jose Mourinho's disciples took the lead when a shot by Eden Hazard ricocheted off Antonio Luna and into their own goal.
However, Aston Villa managed to equalize the score at the end of the first half. In added time, Christian Benteke beat Petr Čech.
In the second half, Chelsea's players managed to score the winning goal. In the 73rd minute, defender Branislav Ivanović headed the ball into the net after a high pass from Frank Lampard.
