Yesterday, the Spanish league club announced that coach Javier Irureta is leaving La Coruña by mutual agreement. The 57-year-old strategist worked with "Deportivo" for a total of 7 seasons.
"After seven years together, we met and decided that now is the right time for both of us to end our professional relationship," said "Deportivo" president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro during the press conference.
"But we want to emphasize that our relationship does not end here and the doors are always open for Irureta if he wishes to return to the club in the future. We would like to thank him not only for the success he brought to the team, but also for being an exemplary leader."
"Regarding Irureta's successor," the president of "Deportivo" said, "I can assure you that the club has not spoken to anyone about the coaching position. That would have shown little respect for the current coach."
As previously announced, former "Real" coach Vicente Del Bosque is considered the main candidate for the vacant position. Meanwhile, "Deportivo" still needs to announce whether they will compete in the Intertoto Cup next season.
