On Sunday, three matches of the "Ligue 1" championship's third round were played in France.
In the earliest match, two strong middle-ranking teams of the league met - the "Lille" and "Saint-Etienne" teams.
In the new stadium, which can accommodate 50 thousand spectators, the hosts from the Lille team defeated their opponents from southeastern France.
The only goal of the match was scored by the winners' Salomon Kalou, who converted a penalty from 11 meters, which he himself earned.
This "Lille" victory secured the leader status in the championship for the "Marseille" club.
The French champions "Paris St. Germain" players also played their round match on Sunday evening.
