After a successful medical check-up on Wednesday morning, representatives officially announced that next season, defender Gerard Lopez will represent their team. He has signed a four-year contract with the team.
The 26-year-old player is moving to Monaco without a transfer fee, as his contract with the Spanish champions ends this summer. It is reported that Tottenham and several other Spanish clubs offered contracts to Gerard, but he chose France.
In 2000, Gerard moved from Valencia to Barcelona for 20 million euros, but he struggled to establish himself in the Catalan club. This was heavily influenced by ongoing injuries that prevented him from reaching his optimal athletic form.
