The Future of "Liverpool" Does Not Depend on L. Suarez © EuroFootball.com

Unedited text.

As the period of football players transferring from one team to another approaches its end, the scandalous forward Luis Suarez still belongs to the "Liverpool" team that does not intend to sell him. Nevertheless, quite a few people are hoping to see the Uruguayan's transfer to another club in the final moments of summer. One of such people is likely the football player himself, who is known by the nickname "El Pistolero".

Regardless of how Luis Suarez's escape drama from Anfield stadium will end, it may or may not have a significant impact on Liverpool's future. Remaining in Liverpool, the Uruguayan probably won't perform such a crucial role this season as he did in the previous one when he scored 23 goals and was close to winning the Golden Premier League Boot.

With suspended Luis Suarez not playing for the "Reds", the new season started with two victories, and the team currently holds the second position in the English championship. This is greatly contributed by solid defense, especially the new team's goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who saved the goal in both matches without conceding any goals and even stopped an eleven-meter penalty.

Also receiving a lot of praise is the young attacking midfielder from Brazil, Philippe Coutinho, who was a real leader in the team's preparation for the new season.

However, the brightest colors this year shine with the star of the player added to the Liverpool squad in January, the striker Daniel Sturridge.

Soon to celebrate his 24th birthday, the Englishman has so far worn the Liverpool shirt in 17 official matches, during which he scored 15 goals and made 5 assists. It was precisely with the goals of this Manchester City academy graduate that the team managed to win minimal victories at the beginning of this season against the teams from Stoke City and Aston Villa.

Saying that D. Sturridge is a better striker than L. Suarez would be a bit too bold, but it seems likely that the biggest role in Liverpool's attack won't be left to the Uruguayan anymore. Suarez scored many goals before his suspension for biting an opponent, but Sturridge, although often playing with the ball, almost always shoots strongly and confidently towards the goal. Therefore, the future of Liverpool will depend on how often the Englishman can score goals and not the Uruguayan.

"He is a fantastic striker. Due to his excellent physique, speed, and strength, watching Daniel play, people might think that he is Brazilian, not British," - said the "Reds" manager Brendan Rodgers, not hiding his fondness for his pupil.

If Suarez were to leave Merseyside in the final moments of the transfer period, it probably wouldn't be a huge loss for the club, considering not only D. Sturridge's performance but also how hard the summer signing Iago Aspas works on the field and the form shown by the young Fabio Borini, who is recovering from a series of injuries and recently scored twice against the "Manchester United" U21 team, helping the Liverpool U21 team achieve an impressive 4-2 victory.

Of course, the desire of Liverpool's leaders to keep Suarez at any cost is understandable. A team seeking to return to the UEFA Champions League after a five-year hiatus cannot easily let go of such a high-level player who will surely be very useful in surpassing the strengthened mid-level and elite clubs of the English championship.

If Suarez stays in Liverpool and finds motivation to play, he and Sturridge might even form the best striker duo in the Premier League and remind fans of the times of Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush. Or... Or not.
