On Friday evening in the Czech capital Prague, the UEFA Super Cup match took place, as usual, between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League.
This year, it was a clash between the Champions League winners, Bayern Munich, and the Europa League champions, Chelsea.
In the first half of the game, as expected, Bayern Munich took the initiative, but did not rush to press the opponents and conducted a sort of reconnaissance.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, as usual for Jose Mourinho's teams, chose a counter-attacking tactic.
The latter strategy brought results as early as the 9th minute, when Fernando Torres scored a goal after Eden Hazard's run and Andre Schuerrle's pass.
After the goal, the game remained unchanged and Bayern slowly tried to approach the opponents' goal, while Chelsea successfully defended and counterattacked.
In the second half, Bayern increased the pressure on the opponents and began to press more intensely, so already in the second minute after the break, the best player in Europe, Franck Ribery, equalized the score.
The flow of the game remained unchanged after the equalizer.
The heat rose on the pitch when in the 85th minute, Ramires received a second yellow card for a rough tackle and was forced to leave the field.
However, during the remaining time, Bayern failed to take advantage of the numerical superiority, and the match moved into extra time.
In the third minute of extra time, Eden Hazard made a amazing individual run, tricked two defenders, and sent the ball into Manuel Neuer's goal, who undoubtedly should have performed better in this episode.
After regaining the lead, the Chelsea players had nothing else left but to set up a defensive wall in front of their goal, as Bayern pressed the opponents towards their goal.
Petr Cech withstood several great shots during extra time, and it seemed like the London team would triumph, but already in added time, one of the high passes reached Javi Martinez, who equalized the score, leading to a penalty shootout.
Throughout the penalty shootout, D.Alaba, D.Luiz, T.Kroos, Oscar, P.Lahm, F.Lampard, F.Ribery, A.Cole, and X.Shaqiri all scored precise shots.
However, the final Chelsea shot, taken by the young Romelu Lukaku, was saved by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, and Bayern triumphed in the UEFA Super Cup match.
