Jose Mourinho praised his players after the UEFA Super Cup match and insisted that they deserved to return home as winners.
Yesterday, the Champions League and Europa League winners clashed. After a fierce battle that went to penalties, the title was won by Bayern Munich's footballers.
"The best team lost," said the Portuguese coach after the match. "The best team played with 10 players for a long time. They competed against the European champions and they were the best."
"We must be proud of ourselves and believe in a more successful future. I will just say that the best team lost, that's all," added the former Real Madrid coach.
It was the second consecutive UEFA Super Cup match for London's Chelsea. Last year, the "Blues" lost 4-1 to Atletico Madrid.
