Due to a ten-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanović in the Premier League, Liverpool striker Luis Suárez was unable to play for the national team, but he showed what he is best at – both from the good and the bad side.
The 26-year-old striker led the Uruguayan national team to victory in the 2014 World Cup South American zone qualifying match against Peru – 2:1.
The striker not only scored two goals, but also twice stood out from the bad side – simulating fouls that cost the Peruvian national team dearly.
At the end of the first half, L. Suárez invaded the penalty area and earned a penalty, which he soon converted himself. However, in the replay it can be seen that the opponent only slightly touched the Uruguayan's leg and the penalty was not one hundred percent fair.
Just two minutes later, in the middle of the field, L. Suárez was brought down by Yotun, and the Uruguayan fell as if shot, earning the opponent a red card due to excellent acting.
In the second half, the Uruguayan national team, having a numerical advantage, scored again and secured victory - once again thanks to L. Suárez. The 84th minute goal by Jefferson Farfán did not change anything.
"I will do everything I can to make sure this referee cannot participate in the World Cup. I am not afraid to say - these were one hundred percent wrong decisions. Yes, Yotun behaved badly, but on the football field there are stronger clashes that go unnoticed," - dissatisfaction with the match referee Patricio Loustau was expressed by the Peru national team coach Sergio Markarian.
