In Riga on Friday, not only the national teams of Latvia and Lithuania played football. The teams of media representatives from both countries tested their strengths on the artificial turf training field of the "Skonto" stadium. The Lithuanians, whose core was made up of members of the Lithuanian Union of Journalists' Club of Sports Journalists "Press'as", crushed their opponents 4:0 (2:0). Sports commentator Nerijus Kesminas scored three goals.

The Lithuanians continued a previously established tradition - playing with foreign colleagues on the day of the national team's matches. However, this was the first time such a match took place away: previously they played with Scots in Kaunas, with Poles in Marijampolė, and with Greeks in Vilnius.

In Riga, Lithuanian journalists attacked their opponents' goals from the beginning of the match and created several dangerous opportunities, but the goals only came in the last 10 minutes of the game. In the beginning, N.Kesminas scored from a corner, and then added a second goal after a beautiful pass from Rimas Baubonis. The commentator scored for the third time at the beginning of the second half after receiving the ball from Romanas Buršteinas, and the rout was finished by R.Baubonis with an individual run into the penalty area.

The communication between journalists from the two countries during the football match did not end. At the beginning, colleagues watched together the basketball battle between Lithuania and Latvia on television from Slovenia, and then they cheered for their own teams in the "Skonto" stands during the World Cup qualification match.

With the help of the Lithuanian Football Federation, the tradition of playing matches with foreign journalists will continue in October, when the national teams of Latvia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will visit Lithuania.
