Roma's head coach Giuseppe Papadopulo is stepping down from the team after spending a little over half a year there, since they failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.
The former strategist helped the team secure a 13th place finish this season. The 56-year-old coach says he wanted to continue staying in the Italian capital, but due to unsuccessful negotiations, he is leaving the club.
"The outcome of the negotiations is not what I expected. Therefore, after June 30, when my contract ends, I will no longer be the team's coach. However, I want to thank the president who believed in me, the players, assistants for their efforts and hard work, and the amazing fans of Lazio who never stopped believing in the team, even when it was very difficult," says G. Papadopulo.
It is speculated that Giovanni Trapattoni, who resigned from Lisbon on Tuesday, could take over the reins at Lazio, but there are other possible candidates, such as former Reggina coach G. Camolese, former Atalanta coach D. Rossi, and Lecce coach Z. Zeman.
